Sometimes the biggest dreams start in small places.
For us, that place is five acres located just 30 minutes north of the Twin Cities in Lino Lakes, Minnesota, where a shared love for animals, the outdoors, growing food, and a simpler way of doing things became Big Dream Farm.
We're Drew Maciaszek and Sorell Elbert, and our farm is our little piece of Minnesota, where chickens roam the pasture, honeybees buzz through the gardens, vegetables grow in the summer sun, homemade baked goods cool on the counter, and our two farm dogs are never far from the action.
Drew was born and raised in the Blaine, Minnesota area and has always had a love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. His appreciation for nature, working with his hands, and the land around him is very much a part of life at Big Dream Farm.
Sorell was born and raised in central Iowa, in the heart of farm country, and grew up on a horse farm. Animals, chores, open spaces, and agriculture were part of everyday life and created an appreciation for hard work, caring for animals, and knowing where your food comes from.
Years later, an Iowa farm girl and a Minnesota outdoorsman found themselves building a life together in Lino Lakes, and one big dream started taking shape.
Today, Big Dream Farm is home to pasture-raised broiler chickens, gardens, seasonal produce and herbs, flowers, honeybees, and small-batch baked goods.
We believe there is something special about knowing where your food comes from and knowing the people who raised, grew, or made it.
When you purchase a chicken from Big Dream Farm, we raised it. We were there when the chicks arrived, cared for them every day, moved them onto fresh pasture, and watched them grow.
The vegetables at our farm stand come from gardens we planted and tended. Our future honey will come from bees living and working right here. And our baked goods are made in small batches in our own kitchen.
There's a story behind the food here, and we think that matters.
Big Dream Farm wouldn't be complete without Apollo, our yellow Lab, and Casey, our Mini Australian Shepherd.
Whether they're keeping an eye on the chickens, exploring the property, swimming, collecting sticks, or simply supervising whatever project we're working on, they're very much part of farm life.
Not a dream of becoming the biggest farm, but of creating something good: a place where animals are cared for with purpose, food is grown with care, and our neighbors can feel connected to the people and place behind the food they bring home.
Our five acres are a reminder that you don't need hundreds of acres to grow something meaningful.
That's what "Grown with Care. Raised with Purpose." means to us.
We're still learning, still growing, and definitely still dreaming.
